Things might have changed since I last did gvg with Mike but some basic hints from when we did gvg regularly: 1) one person goes as flag runner - their task is to keep the flag tower capped for your team and to slow down the opponent flag runner - usually this was done by a ranger who brings running/dodge skills, some form of self heal, some form of crippling the opponent runner, and some form of degen to put on the opponent runner. This job can be done by a sin or ele too. 2) There used to be 2 basic methods but they nerfed the gank gl method so the basic method of winning is to kill all of your opponent and the first couple of guild lord guards. You then gank your opponent on the rez shrine - provided you keep the flag tower they will gain dp - when they reach -60dp they stop rezzing - this then allows you to take out the rest of the guards and guild lord in relative peace. 3) strategy - you can either go spike or continuous pressure. For spike builds you all target different people and put pressure on their monk's healing, you count down from 3 on vent - one person calls the target and removes any enchantments and you all suddenly switch to that target - killing it before their monk can react. The continuos pressure build tends to use lots of degen hexes and conditions - the idea is to keep their monk busy until it runs out of energy - using zealous weapons helps a bit too. 4) different types of spike - there are different types of spiking - when we used to play the first time - ranger spike was the number one thing - I have some good updated ranger spike builds if ppl are interested. However, ranger spike is easily counted with Aegis (remove enchantment helps) and blind. We next used ele spikes which were lightning damage based. I believe ritualists spikes are quite popular because they can ignore armor. Rainbow spike is where you mix the different types of spikes - one person is ranger, one person ele, one person necro, one person mesmer etc. 5) Healing strategies - things have moved on since we did gvg last - but it used to be considered noob behaviour to bring spells that cost more than 5nrg (absolute rubbish). Look at what benefits you get from the spell - for example aegis is going to cover the whole group for a period of time, healing seed is going to cover a couple of players without you having to worry too much unless someone brings strip enchant. However, when choosing your build keep the following in mind: 1) How long does the effect last 2) How long does it take to recharge (if you are only going to be able to use it once then it is useless) There has to be as short a time between the effect wearing off and being able to apply it again. 3) How are you going to manage your energy because the monks are inevitably targets by all but the top pvp guilds - then it is a good idea to bring a couple of spells that you can protect yourself or bring a dummy monk who heals themselves and the real monks go as emo or nmo. 6) make sure everyone but the monks bring a rez signet. It is the difference between winning the first wipe and losing the game. 7) think at how you are going to keep them on their rez shrine. Here the flag runner might come in handy. Something like meteor is going to help here. 8) sometimes bringing a blind ele helps - (ele that spams blind amongst sins, rangers, and warriors) - similarly if you are brining a nrg steal mesmer then bring zealous weapons too - target the most vunerable such as warriors, dervish and monks. Ok hope that helps a bit - vent is essential to winning - it is sometimes a good idea to practice team spikes in the balthazaar island before going into gvg. Nym

Hehe. I don't think we're gonna make a core GvG team. Althou Paula seemd to like it quite a bit. I don't know... Mabey? I don't know. :D I think we're just planning on having fun and collecting loads of balth faction from Z-Quest. However, we need to tank our rating now, unless we are expecting to beat mediocre&good teams.. so yeah. tell Dave to run bogroot build in GvG some more :D
