[SNOW] Code of Conduct

SNOW Code of Conduct - these rules apply to Alliance Chat and Guild Chat. 1. No excessive swearing. OK... you just got ganked, your heroes/henchies suck and there's a gold lying on the ground with your name on it and Mhenlo's refusing to rez you... if you REALLY feel the need to describe your troubles to everyone in the alliance try using language minus the expletives. We're a smart bunch of people, we all know the words and we can fill in the blanks for ourselves. [Please see Anet's official rule no.3] 2. Keep your pants on. You might have just got lucky but there are young people in the alliance who only think that means you found a dollar. Sexually explicit chat is best kept to private chat. [Please see Anet's offical rule no.3] 3. NO TROLLING - don't bring up controversial topics like politics, religion, sexuality and such and avoid entering the conversation if someone else does. People who enjoy arguing are NOT welcome here. 4. Don't get involved if someone is causing trouble - simply screen shot it and tell one of the guild leaders/officers. Avoid pointless arguing just because of a difference in opinion. Agree to disagree and move on. DO NOT get involved in "flame wars" or Alliance Chat arguments. Take a screen shot, report it and let us deal with it from there. If you must, turn off AC until it is resolved. If someone abuses you through private whispering then screenshot it and report them to ArenaNet for harassment. 5. Rags or riches? It's poor form to brag about how much money you have or how much your armor/weapons/mini-pets etc. are worth. 6. No spamming. No spamming. No spamming. No spamming. No spamming. No spamming. (annoying isn't it? ;) ) The only time semi-spam is allowed is when forming a party (but don't overdo it). 7. Join in groups (or start them) whenever possible! You can solo farm any time you like, if someone is forming a HM group then leave the farming and go and join. We monitor those who participate in Guild and Alliance events... and those who don't. If you don't want to group then maybe you don't need to be in a guild at all. 8. Have a go! Do you REALLY need a full team of Guild / Alliance people to get from Ascalon to Sardelac Sanitarium? 9. No PC (Price Checking), only WTB and WTS are allowed (still without spamming / repeating) and all price negotiations should be taken to PM's. We don't mind if you PC in guild chat provided you don't spam. Use the forum to sell at discounted prices or sell in towns/guru at full price. 10. Don't ask for freebies or to borrow gold / items. If you want something badly enough you should be prepared to earn it or pay a fair price for it. When was the last time YOU gave something of value away for free? 11. When asking for something in Alliance chat don't be offended if you get no reply, just assume that no-one has what you want at the present time. In an alliance of 10 guilds with up to 100 people per guild that's could result in a lot of "No's" if everybody answered. 12. It's just a game! Play it for fun and with a sense of fair play and respect for others. Don't expect perfection from others even if YOU are perfect ;)

The original rules - incorporating most of what blood said above: Our rules at SNOW are more stringent than those in other alliances. SNOW Code of Conduct - these rules apply to alliance chat - 1. No excessive swearing. OK... you just got ganked, your henchies suck and there's a gold lying on the ground with your name on it and Mhenlo's refusing to rez you... if you REALLY feel the need to describe your troubles to everyone in the alliance try using language minus the expletives. We're a smart bunch of people, we all know the words and we can fill in the blanks for ourselves 2. Keep your pants on. You might have just got lucky but there are young people in the alliance who only think that means you found a dollar. Sexually explicit chat is best kept to private chat. 3. No spamming 4. Don't beg for freebies or ask to borrow money. If you want something badly enough you should be prepared to earn it or pay a fair price for it. When was the last time YOU gave something of value away for free? 5. When asking for something in Alliance chat don't expect a reply from everyone in the Alliance. With up to 10 guilds with up to 100 people per guild that's a lot of "No's". If you get no reply don't be offended, just assume that no-one has what you want at the present time. 6. Have a go! Do you REALLY need a full team of Alliance people to get from Ascalon to Sardelac Sanitarium? 7. No WTS / PC (Price Checkiing), only WTB is allowed (still without spamming/repeating and all price negotiations should be taken to PM's.). [I don't mind if you PC in guild chat provided you don't spam - but no selling and not in alliance chat]. Use the forum to sell at discounted prices or sell in towns/guru at full price. This is to stop arguments about what the correct price should be or accusations of scamming alliance/guild members - (note: this rule is slightly laxed in light of alliance ac rules but we would ask you try to keep to it). 8. No trolling, that means dont bring up topics like politics, religion and such, or just disagreeing with anything and everything being said. People who enjoy arguing are NOT welcome here 9. Rags or riches? It's poor form to brag about how much money you have or how much your armor/weapons/pets etc. are worth. 10. It's just a game! Play it for fun and with a sense of fair play and respect for others. 11. You CAN semi-spam to gather people for an alliance group, this is actually encouraged (but dont overdo it on the spam) 12. Partake in groups - you can solo farm any time you like, if someone is forming a HM group then leave the farming and go and join (you will probably make more cash tbh). The only real excuse is if you are already in a group. We will be monitoring those who partake and those who don't - if you don't want to group then maybe you don't need to be in a guild at all. 13. Don't get involved if someone is causing trouble - simply screen shot it and tell one of the guild leaders/officers and we will deal with the matter. Someone just called your mother a lot of offensive words, you will get on their nerves more if you ignore them than answering back - they called your mother those names to get a reaction, don't give them what they want. To clarify: No excessive swearing, no racism, no sexism, no religious or political chat. You can talk politics and religion with like-minded people in private whisper. Racism is an instant kick and depending on how blatant it is - will be screenshot and reported to Anet for a ban. Finally, No arguing - you can disagree once and leave it at that - but no calling people noobs etc for an hour just because of a difference in opinion. Agree to disagree and move on. These rules will be enforced with screen shots - guilty people on the screen shots will be asked to apologise for their behaviour or leave the guild. Repeated offences will result in being kicked from SNOW. These rules will be enforced very seriously now that they have been posted because I REALLY hated having to waste my time in having to post them. Nymph of Meliai - founder of SNOW

Follow up from Erdos: Hey i think you guys should know this... I had like no faith in NCsoft's willingness to ban people and thought this post was pretty useless.. but wow i gotta tell ya: If there is any emergency, like someone spamming racist, vulgar, or crude comments, it is so easy to report 1) Take screenshot(s) which make the offender look unquestionably bad 2) Report it here http://help.plaync.com/cgi-bin/plaync.cfg/php/enduser/ask.php (Dont even have to host the image) 3) In about 10-20mins if they decide that rules were broken, that person will be banned for 3 days (maybe more if the person has already been banned) Works wonders. ~Endless Divination Maker of the 'Date or Daugheter?' game
